Holidays and Short Breaks

If you are anything like our family then having to get in the car on the very first day to find something to do does not make for a happy time but Glynmeddig is lucky enough to have a number of footpaths heading in various directions from the property and we have had three different walks mapped to help you discover the best way to the pub via a green lane, how to get onto Trallong common to the east or where to head up on to the hill opposite us to get the best views west to the Carmarthen Fans and the Brecon Beacons.

In the Summer the Cilleni river just beneath us has a pool where our children have played and swum all their lives – made damns and fashioned swings off the bank….2 minutes walk down the field – heaven!!

The tennis court up above the barn is great for anyone wanting to have one of those Wimbledon moments ….or practise in the hope of one! The games room has table tennis, a small pool table and table footie if the great outdoors does not appeal…..although we are sure it is not why you are coming there is also a TV and DVD player here and WiFi for keeping in touch with the outside world if you need to!

Visiting the Brecon Beacons is not constrained by the time of year. We like to think that actually it is worth remembering that the variety of the seasons gives you different reasons to come back. Whilst we can not guarantee it you may well be able to do some of the best tobogganing you have ever done in the winter. The advent of Spring with snowdrops and then daffodils appearing and the fields full of lambs are a promise of the Summer on the way. Summer when it arrives means that at Glynmeddig you may discover river swimming for the first time or be able to play tennis on a court that has one of the most glorious positions in the UK. If you come in the autumn the colours of the trees and hills, the opportunity for bracing walks, the chance to take part in the Brecon Art week or the baroque festival in the town or simply settle in with friends with the woodburning stove lit and the wine in the fridge!
